Why Moda Furnishings?
When I visited the Chelmsford showroom, I was astounded by the quality of their furniture and the comfort. To me it was a no-brainer, their sets are real investment pieces which I know will stand the test of time and serve our family well for years to come.
What made you choose your sets?
I’m lucky enough to have two sets, the Talia 2B and the Ellis.
When I chose the Talia 2B last year, I knew I wanted a set for our patio off the kitchen/diner. The colour of the powder coated aluminium frame complimented the windows and door frames at the back of our house. I also loved the look of the ropeweave, a modern take on an outdoor furniture classic!
The Ellis was chosen with the end of our garden in mind. This area had been a sanctuary for me during lockdown with its beautiful field views. But I never quite found the right piece of furniture to go there. The ‘lounger’ corner sofa style of the Ellis allows me to truly relax in comfort on my own, but is large enough to spend time here with my family and friends. I chose the Ellis in White because over the last year or so my home has been all about the neutrals and this took that look outside perfectly.
What’s your approach to design and style?
My style has definitely changed over the years. I used to be drawn to bright colours and my ‘all white’ house was filled with pops of colour, but as life has got very busy over the last few years I’m now craving calming neutrals. I don’t so much follow trends anymore, as look for classic pieces with a nod to contemporary style which will stand the test of time. And this is why I love Moda so much, it suits my personal style perfectly!
Why is outdoor living important to you?
I have three boys who are all football mad, so I spend a lot of evenings outside watching them play football and now I can do that in comfort! I’ve also appreciated our garden more since COVID-19 and realise how lucky we are to have such an open space. Our Moda sets have let us all take advantage of this space so much more.
Favourite thing to do in your new Moda space?
Spending time with my boys and my husband, just chatting about our day. It’s also my favourite place to have a cuddle with our dog Joni. And now we have the firepit table we can take advantage of the space no matter what time of year it is. It’s also great for cooking up a BBQ storm with the grill plates we have.
What are your top tips for someone struggling to style their outdoor space?
I think the most important thing is to work out what you want to use the space for. For us it was being able to eat outside more, and just enjoy our views. We’ve added some of Moda’s gorgeous accessories just to make the outdoor space feel like an extension of our home. With some of their soft furnishings, cushions, a throw and one of their beautiful rugs. We also have their Grace outdoor lamp which means we don’t have to go indoors when the light fades! Practicality and comfort to me are key. With Moda you get both these but also something super stylish too!
What’s next on your Moda Wishlist?
Well, I have increased my Talia ‘collection’ since I got my initial pieces last year, and I am currently coveting the Talia lounger set. I’ve never actually owned any loungers so they are currently at the top of my wish list! I have the perfect spot left on our patio for the set, it seems a shame not to fill it!
